Justine Grover, affectionately known as 'La Tinita', developed her passion for Flamenco when she was 9 years old when she began her studies with the esteemed Blanca Luz in Buena Park. In college she furthered her dancing by also enrolling in ballet classes with her future mentor Giselle, the daughter of Blanca Luz. Since graduating from the University of California Riverside with a degree in Fine Art she has continued to study flamenco. In 2008 she studied in Jerez de la Frontera with Angelita Gómez. In 2009 she returned to Jerez and trained with María del Mar Moreno. And in 2010 she moved her life to Sevilla and studied flamenco for a year with some of the most renowned bailaores in flamenco such as Rafael Campallo, Isabel Bayón, Javier Barón, Milagros Menjibar, Concha Vargas, Carmen Ledesma and Rubén Olmo.
Tinita has performed throughout Southern California for more than 15 years and for the last 10 years she has brought Flamenco to Orange County high schools where she and her dancing partner educate Spanish classes on the culture and history of Flamenco. Not only does Tinita enjoy the opportunity to dance at Tapas every Saturday, but she has a flamenco dance studio in Anaheim called Naranjita
(www.naranjitaflamenco.com) where she enjoys teaching flamenco to others and passing on her "Duende" to the next generation of flamenco enthusiasts.
If you have any questions about flamenco dancing in either Orange County or Sevilla, please feel free to contact Tinita. She's always happy to talk about flamenco and share information with anyone who has an interest in this art form that she loves so much (justine@naranjitaflamenco.com).
